Envato

Envato runs global digital asset marketplaces and subscription platforms, including Envato Elements and Envato Market (ThemeForest, CodeCanyon, AudioJungle), with work spanning AI creative tools and e-commerce.

Envato operates a global ecosystem of digital asset marketplaces and subscription platforms that allow creative professionals to monetise their work and to access digital creative resources. The company was founded in 2006 in Sydney by Collis Ta'eed, Cyan Ta'eed and Jun Rung, beginning with FlashDen, a marketplace for Adobe Flash assets that evolved into the wider Envato ecosystem. It relocated to Melbourne in 2008 and now operates globally.

Its technical work spans AI-powered creative tools, digital asset marketplace platforms and e-commerce platform development, covering web themes and templates, software and code plugins, and audio assets. Two products sit at the centre of the business. Envato Elements is a subscription service providing unlimited access to digital assets together with AI tools. Envato Market is a suite of marketplaces connecting creators with customers worldwide, including ThemeForest for website themes and templates, CodeCanyon for code and software items, and AudioJungle for audio assets.

Creator community earnings since inception exceed $1 billion USD, and the company says it serves millions of creative professionals. Industry verticals include digital creative assets, web design and development, graphic design, software and code, audio and music, and stock media and creative technology. Envato was acquired by Shutterstock in 2024.

The company's stated mission centres on helping creatives thrive and monetise their work fairly, an aim it traces to its founding premise that creatives deserved a fair way to earn from their work. Its current direction involves building AI-powered tools at the intersection of creativity and technology.
