Founded in 2012 by serial entrepreneurs Rico Andersen and Martin Hegelund and headquartered in Copenhagen, the company offers a connected platform spanning invoicing, accounting, payroll, business accounts, payments and financing. Its stated mission is to end the time small business owners spend on financial administration so that they can concentrate on running their businesses.

The platform supports more than 450,000 small businesses across Europe. Shine operates in four core markets, including France, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands. The company has been acquired by and forms part of Cegid, a European provider of cloud software for finance and accounting; together the two reach more than one million small businesses and 15,000 accountants across Europe.

Shine's work sits at the intersection of fintech, cloud software, financial software and business finance automation, covering small business finance, accounting, payroll, invoicing, payments and business lending.
